Teach morals with this The Fox and the Stork Colouring Sheet

This The Fox and the Stork Colouring Sheet is a lovely way to support teaching on the story of The Fox and the Stork.

The old fable tells of how a fox and a stork quarrel about the correct receptacle in which to serve a dish to one's friend. Don't know the story? We've included a brief summary of it below.

You can use this colouring sheet anytime, anywhere. Simply download and print, then hand it over to a child along with a pack of colouring pencils. Just make sure to hand them over directly. It would be unkind to lead them on a wild stork chase by hiding the pencils at the bottom of a well and challenging them to follow the clues on a treasure map that may or may not show the exact coordinates of said well, wouldn't it?

What is the moral of The Fox and the Stork?

The story of The Fox and the Stork tells of how two different species of animal can work together and use their strengths to help each other - but only if they have common respect.

The two characters are faced with a dilemma when they go for dinner at each other's houses. The fox starts the tomfoolery by serving his friend food in a shallow dish. The stork can't get at the food because of his long beak, so he gets his revenge by offering the fox his food in a very long and slender jar. The fox can do nothing but sniff the delicious aroma and paw at the side in vain.

When the fox loses his temper, the stork reminds him not to play tricks on his neighbours. Or, treat others how you would expect to be treated yourself. A common lesson that has been taught to a sociable society since the Middle Ages. A positive lesson to remember every day.
