Yes exactly, it was more the concept that made Android very appealing at the time. It wasn't just specs that made Android better, but also with the idea and potential it brings.

I use a J7 Prime (2016) midrange Samsung still. One year newer, but with a fraction (or less, in fact open source development basically ceased in 2021) of the spotlight the Nexii™ get even today.
