I don't see it... Do you have a specific time where it's happening on yours? Are you sure the quality isn't jumping from one resolution to another during playback? (I set mine to 1440p 60fps HDR).

I also have the Video Playback enhancer so not sure if that 'helped'.

The brightness varies from scene to scene, but the only big change I see is when the sunlight glints through different openings in the grillwork in the Hindu temple. 1440 HDR full screen (without any enhancer).

I've noticed the brightness fluctuating on HDR videos when I have my brightness set lower than 50%. Try setting your brightness past 50% and see if it still does it.

How are y'all getting the option for greater than 1080 on the YouTube app?

Make sure you have the resolution on your S9/+ set to WQHD+. If you haven't changed it, the phone defaults to a lower resolution, out of the box, to help the battery last longer. You will likely need to restart the YouTube app before the higher resolution will show up.

Didn't have a problem while watching the video, but afterwards auto brightness was messed up. In a dark room, it kept going to more than half brightness when I'd wake the phone even when I'd adjust it lower.

Rebooted and the issue was fixed.

The fix is placing it in cinema mode when watching any YouTube hdr video. Keep video enhancer on...turn off auto brightness and adaptive display........
