Make Your Gloves Touchscreen-Friendly with a Bit of CPU Thermal Compound

Touchscreen devices are great, until you're wearing gloves and have no way to control your phone. By dabbing just a bit of thermal compound on your gloves, though, your phone's touchscreen will recognize your fingers again.

We've mentioned one way to make your own touchscreen friendly gloves before, but if you haven't had time to sew conductive thread into your gloves yet, reader Landerhoffis offers a quick solution:

A little CPU thermal compound on my

liner gloves

really helps me use my Evo's touch screen.

I use these gloves and some left over

Arctic Silver

(99% sure what type won't matter any) from a recent computer build.

Ive always been able to use the touch screen with the gloves on, but not very well and had to press and tap hard. So what I did was just take some compound and rub it in, and now all i have to do is barely slide my finger across the screen.

For those of you that don't know, thermal compound is a silver liquid that you use to install CPUs in custom-built computers. You can grab it at most computer or electronic stores for about $7.

I tried this trick with my off-brand thermal compound I had lying around, and it worked like a charm. I had to press a little harder, but depending on what you have and how much you put on, it shouldn't be a problem. You'll also inevitably get some on your screen, so just be careful—most modern phones shouldn't scratch up that easily, but if you have a screen protector like the InvisibleShield on your device, you won't have to worry about that at all.
