Miley Cyrus is clearly ready for fall. The singer—who, as of late, has been rocking a very Debbie Harry two-tone dye job—debuted a drastically darker hair color on her Instagram today. Rocking a Gucci look in celebration of designer Sabato De Sarno’s debut collection for the brand, Cyrus posed for a series of photos in which she sports her surprising new autumnal dye job—a deep chocolate brown hue.

Now, going darker for the fall isn’t a totally unexpected beauty transformation. It’s a popular transitional move for the season—a way to reset one’s strands, and to counteract any summer brassiness. And for Cyrus, it’s also a return to the brunette locks she famously sported early-on in her career (the last time she was brunette was 2012, right before she debuted a polarizing platinum pixie cut). The transformation was likely done by her go-to hairstylist, the legendary Sally Hershberger.

There were signs this year that Cyrus was ready for the brunette plunge, however. Earlier this spring, Cyrus embraced a darker shade (with blonde highlights still in tact), but this latest all-over dye job proves she’s fully committed to being a brunette this fall. And frankly, it looks fabulous on her.
