If your wallet is still reeling from the weekend, we have some good news: McDonald's cheeseburgers are only $.50 today. If your brain is also reeling from the weekend, let us do the math for you. That's more than 80% off the regular price of a cheeseburger, which runs about $2.80 on a normal day. The reason for the extremely generous discount? National Cheeseburger Day, September 18. Cheeseburgers will go back to their regular price tomorrow, bummer.

Those of a certain age might remember McDonald's weekly $.39 cheeseburger special in the early aughts. Basically, the best deal in town if you were a hungry teenager living off your parents' allowance, as this writer was. Considering the current inflation rates, 50-cent cheeseburgers is a very good deal. If you haven't had one in a while, the classic cheeseburger is one of the best menu items at McDonald's—its unique flavor combo of salty pickles and sweet ketchup offers a tasty burst of nostalgia.

While no purchase is necessary to receive the discount, customers must order via the McDonald's mobile app to snag the deal. The app is free, so you could be looking at lunch or dinner for less than a buck today. You're welcome.
