Max Payne star James McCaffrey has sadly passed away at the age of 65, with many paying tribute to the actor. A representative for James confirmed to TMZ that he died on Sunday after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that affects white blood cells.

The rep shared: "One of Dick Wolf's proteges ("Swift Justice"), McCaffrey went on to a successful 35 year career in television and film. Trained at the Actor's Studio, he never lost his love for creating characters; however, his good looks often pushed him toward leading man roles."

James is most famous for providing the voice for Max Payne in the video game series. He even made a cameo in the movie version of the game, where he played an FBI agent trying to catch Max.

One fan tweeted: "James McCaffrey, along with Sam Lake, brought Max Payne to life like no one else could," and "McCaffrey's voice and Lake's writing perfectly encapsulated the eternal struggle Max was dealt. James was one of the best VAs in the industry and it's incredibly saddening to see him gone."
