Description
Address carryover for /r/ while addressing pragmatic language goals related to humor, inferences, and multiple meaning words with this set of /r/ jokes. These jokes are loaded with a mixture of prevocalic /r/, vocalic /r/, and /r/ blends. This is a fun way to address carryover of /r/ sounds. This is also a great resource for mixed therapy groups, as there are natural opportunities to address language goals, including vocabulary, use of context clues, multiple meaning words, and figurative language.
Target a variety of speech and language goals including:
- Articulation
- Fluency
- Figurative Language
- Context Clues
- Multiple Meaning Words
- Conversational Turn Taking
Print and cut out each joke. You may wish to laminate each joke card. Distribute the cards to your students or clients and have them take turns telling their jokes. This activity provides opportunities for pragmatic language while also targeting speech goals.
If you are providing services virtually, you may wish to utilize the partial screen share function to share each joke with your students.
