Understanding Supply and Demand is essential to the study of Economics

Designed to help you unpack Supply and Demand content. This resource covers three days of learning activities with a quiz to supplement your teaching practice. It is also designed to be extremely helpful to newer educators who might be a little unsure of how to present this topic.

Economics is a favorite subject of mine. As an econ major and former financial analyst turned Business Teacher, this content is a huge part of my knowledge base. If you are an educator, who might not have a significant background in Economics, this is a lesson that you can easily deliver with confidence.

You are supported by clear instructions and answer keys. This resource is designed as a basic intro to Supply and Demand content and ideal for intro to business and other intro courses that have an Economics Unit.

The Zip Folder includes a PowerPoint with images and graphs to help you deliver content step-by-step. Your students will have opportunities to interact with the presentation keeping them engaged. The examples are modern and therefore, relevant to your students. My notes below the slides tell you what to do so you have minimal planning. Student activity docs are included and interspersed for all three days with answer keys to make your job easier.

If you are familiar with my resources, you know I provide detailed lesson guides. You get learning targets, warm-up, main activities and closures for each day. This guide also explains how to use props like Gatorade or candy bars to demo the laws of supply and demand to get you started and pull your students into the learning.

Lesson One introduces the content with an engaging warm-up that has students participating in the 'transfer of goods' at different prices creating a memorable exchange for teacher and class. Appealing PowerPoint illustrates the content and student activities reinforce the learning. Teacher notes are visible for every slide to help you deliver an excellent instructional presentation. Lesson Day Two (PPT continues) will allow you and your students to go deeper into content through a more complex understanding of the effects of changes in supply and demand on the price of goods and services with assignments that support that learning. The third and last lesson in this resource will include a review (directed through the PPT) and quiz (answer keys included) so you can measure the learning.

Answer Keys are provided for every assignment and quiz in addition to Teacher Notes to help any educator that might be new to the content as well.

This resource is ideal for units in Intro to Business, Fundamentals of Business, Entrepreneurship, Workplace Readiness, Intro to Marketing, and Economics.

SWBAT recognize how prices are affected by the supply and demand for goods and services; label the parts of the supply and demand graph; identify the equilibrium price for a good; demonstrate the relationship that prices play in supply and demand for different goods and services; infer how certain events nationally and internationally may affect price of a good or service.
