Tamara Ecclestone has revealed she is still breastfeeding her daughter, who turns two in March.

The Formula 1 heiress admitted she wants her little girl Sophia to need her there to be fed, and explained it was a parenting style her own mum used.

The star - who has been criticised for breastfeeding photos she shared over summer - has defended her decision.

She told new! magazine: "I'm still feeding her so if she needs to be fed I need to be there.

"My mum was like that until we were old enough to understand, and even then she'd only leave us with family. I guess it's just the way I am."

Tamara admitted it can be difficult finding time to have date nights with Jay Rutland, but he understands that she needs to be close to their daughter.

She added: "I don't feel comfortable leaving Sophia with anyone in the evenings, and Jay understands how hands-on I am.

"So long as we do get our time together, he doesn't mind if we're in the house with a takeaway. It's still just us. If she wakes in the night I want to be there for her."

Meanwhile, Tamara recently shared a cute snap of Sophie visiting her granddad, Formula 1 supremo Bernie.

Proud Tamara posted the snap onto her Instagram account, and revealed that it was taken as they visited her dad "at his office".
