Glow Rhino Tritium Ember FOB

<p>The green glow fob is awesome</p>

<p>Very nice to be able to find keys easier when in the bottom of a bag or just in the dark. It also looks very cool and is a conversation starter.</p>

<p>I keep a tritium fob on each one of my sets of keys. I frequently misplace my keys and these little glow in the dark tubes really helps to find them.<br /><br />Tritium, a hydrogen isotope, glows because it emits electrons from beta decay. The electrons interact with phosphor on the inside of the tube and the glow is generated. The beta rays generated from that decay can not pass through the walls of the vial. The only way the content of these vials can be dangerous would be if you broke the tube and inadvertently ingested the contents. I have carried these for years, dropped my keys more times than I can count and have never damaged a tube. I would not, however, use it to break glass...I found the inclusion of that feature a both curious and ill advised.<br /><br />In addition to these tubes, tritium is frequently used in markers on the face of some wristwatches (Search for Ball Watch to see some beautiful examples.)<br /><br />This tube glows in the color green. While these are available in many colors, green glows the brightest. There are charts out there that indicate the relative brightness of the different colors. Half life is generally 12.5 years...12.5 years from new it will glow half as brightly.<br /><br />The reviewer mentioning T25 and T100 is confused, ignore that Those numbers are used with respect to wristwatches and indicate the total AMOUNT of radioactivity in the glass tubes measured in mCi (millicuries.) A T25 watch has 1-25 total mCi of radioactivity, a T100 has 26-100 mCi.<br /><br />This is fob is small enough to use wherever you want and bright enough to serve its function. I recommend it.</p>

<p>This is a really small vial, but it definitely does what its supposed to do. It emits a very distinct and visible green glow in low light conditions. It actually takes little darkness for it to fluoresce - that's probably one of the first things I noticed, which is a good thing.<br /><br />The vial and the included ring seem pretty strong; I currently have them on my keys and I've already dropped them more times than I care to admit and the flow fob is unscathed.<br /><br />Admittedly, it is a really useful item with tons of different placement options. I keep mine on my keys to simply serve as a marker as I will inevitably drop them getting out of my car one night and this will make finding them much easier...at least compared to combing my yard with a flashlight like last time.<br /><br />All in all, it's a good product that should serve me well for years to come. It's a bit small and a little on the pricey side, but it does work well.</p>

<p>The ember fob is a lot smaller than I expected and it isn’t very bright. It is a glow in the dark locator, not laminator, so I can’t really see anything except that small glow stick in the plastic tube in pitch black. However, it is extremely easy to carry around and lightweight to attach to anything like keys, backpack, jackets or anything with a ring. The craftsmanship is decent and I like the sturdy build quality<br /><br />I know about tritium radioactive material from night sights of firearms, so I am familiar with it. I like the idea that it glows itself for over 10 years without any charging or maintenance. I attached it to my flashlight in my room in case of the blackout at night. I can locate it across the room and it is visible from 20 feet away in the dark. I like it due to its cool factor and technology, but it is way too expensive for what it is. It is not economical for anyone who prefers a small $5 portable flashlight for emergency or a $1 glow stick for occasional use.</p>

<p>When I camp or am away from civilization where no artificial light exists it is convenient to have this tiny glowing fob attached to gear that I may want to grab quickly without fumbling around. On the lanyard of a flashlight I can reach out and grab the flashlight with no hesitancy even in total pitch darkness. This uses Tritium which is a rare hydrogen radioactive isotope that slowly emits Beta Particles to produce radio luminescence. According to Wikipedia those "can penetrate only about 6.0 mm of air, and they are incapable of passing through the dead outermost layer of human skin." That's safe enough for me!<br /><br />Tritium is rare and expensive which accounts for the cost of this tiny fob. It is quite effective and does not need to be "charged" by sunshine to use.<br /><br />I Recommend this Glow Rhino Brand Glow in The Dark Ember Fob for Everyday Carry EDC Survival Gear, Glass Breaker, for Camping, Hiking, Hunting, Fishing, and Outdoor Recreation. Easy to see and convenient for my use. Definitely a "Go Bag" component for me, may need to buy another!<br /><br />I hope you’ve found the information and my review helpful.</p>

<p>This is a real Tritium glow vial, this means it does not require occasional charging in bright light to make it glow. On the pull-chain for a light in a dark basement or on your keychain that is always in your pocket, it will still glow! And the glow should last for over a decade!<br /><br />The light is not particularly bright like a keychain flashlight would be. This is not something you can use to read a newspaper with at night and the glow is not visible in daylight. But at night when your eyes get adjusted to the dark it is very easy to see, even at a distance. This is the sort of thing you put on your keychain so if you happen to drop your keys at night you can find them quickly. Also great if you happen to lose your keys in one of the dark recesses under your car seat, this will help you find them.<br /><br />Some glow-in-the-dark fobs may be brighter if you leave them in the sun to "charge up" but after an hour or so they fade away. This fob always glows and never needs to be "charged up" so it's great to mark something in a space that sees very little light.</p>

<p>This is our second Glow Rhino Ember FOB. They are extremely useful and versatile. The FOB is on a keyring and contains Tritium - which glows in the dark and is very visible and bright. We use on our keys but would work well on a dog collar or a bag or wallet. This one is a bit smaller than the other one we own but is a great size at a bit over 1in excluding the keyring.</p>

<p>This is actually one of the first times I've seen a bona fide tritium keychain. And what's more, it's not made by some company whose name you can't even pronounce, that will probably disappear within a year or so. Also, this tritium keychain I got from Glow Rhino, is actually much brighter than one of a similar size, that I had gotten from eBay a couple of years ago, that costed over $60 in the end! </p>
