Bulgaria legend Trifon Ivanov has died at the age of 50.
The centre-back, who was recognised for his thick beard, played 77 times for his country.
He played a key role in Bulgaria's run to the World Cup semi-finals in 1994 and also played at Euro 96 and in France two years later.
A statement from the Bulgarian Football Union hailed Ivanov as one of the country's greatest players after his passing.
Trifon Ivanov will remain in the history of Bulgarian football as one of the best defenders," the statement read.
"Before being a great player, Trifon was a great man with great heart and always ready to help.
"We all mourn the loss of a true friend. Rest in peace, Trifon."
Trifon also played for CSKA Sofia, Real Betis and Rapid Vienna during his club career.
