After Ryan Gosling blessed viewers’ screens with an electrifying performance of “I’m Just Ken” at the 2024 Oscars, his wife, Eva Mendes, had one request for him.
The actress took to Instagram on Sunday night, writing, “You took Ken all the way to the Oscars, RG. Now come home, we need to put the kids to bed.” She also shared a photo of her wearing Gosling’s iconic pink, bedazzled, custom Gucci blazer from his performance, along with a black cowboy hat.
Along with Gosling, Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt performing the hit song from Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, other Kens from the movie also joined them onstage, including Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Ncuti Gatwa. Slash also made a special appearance.

“I’m Just Ken” was nominated for best original song at the Oscars this year, though the award ultimately went to “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish and Finneas. Gosling also received a nomination for best supporting actor for Ken in Barbie, but the Oscar went to Robert Downey Jr. for Oppenheimer.
Throughout the 2024 award season, Mendes has shown her support for Gosling. In January, she took to social media to address some of the criticism the actor initially received when he stepped into the role of Ken in Barbie.
She wrote at the time, “So proud of my man. So much hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it. Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to Oscars. So beyond proud to be this Ken’s Barbie.”
Mendes and Gosling first met when starring together in 2012’s The Place Beyond the Pines. They later got married and share two daughters.
The 96th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, were held March 10 at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. Check out the complete winners list and red carpet arrivals here.
