Zach Galifianakis, Seth Rogen and Bill Hader will star in the space-set comedy The Something.
Rodney Rothman, who wrote the scripts for 22 Jump Street and Grudge Match, penned The Something and will make his directorial debut with the film, along with producing. Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures is producing along with Good Universe. Universal will distribute and has greenlighted the project.
The Something follows a group of male astronauts, who, after being stuck in space for years, come upon another ship.
Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver will produce under their Point Grey Pictures banner. Good Universe’s Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake will executive produce.
Erik Baiers and Chloe Yellin will oversee the project for Universal, while Erin Westerman will oversee for Good Universe and Alex McAtee will oversee for Point Grey.
Galifianakis‘ recent credits include Oscar winner Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) and Muppets Most Wanted. He’ll soon be seen in comedy Keeping Up With the Joneses and Tulip Fever, and he will voice the Joker in the Lego Batman movie. Galifianakis is repped by UTA, Brillstein and Morris Yorn.
Rogen was most recently seen in Universal’s Steve Jobs and holiday comedy The Night Before. His upcoming films include Universal’s sequel Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, which he co-wrote and stars in, and The Disaster Artist (also a Good Universe project), which he stars in opposite James Franco. Both Rogen and Point Grey are repped by UTA. Rogen also is repped by Gotham/Principal and Felker Toczek.
Hader and Rogen have appeared in a slew of movies together, including Pineapple Express, Superbad and Knocked Up. Hader’s recent credits include Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck and voice work in Pixar’s Inside Out and the upcoming Sausage Party and Angry Birds Movie. He’ll also appear in Steven Spielberg’s The BFG. Hader is repped by UTA and Felker Toczek.
Rothman is repped by UTA and Ziffren Brittenham.
