Each year, hundreds of brands from around the world come together for CES, the Consumer Electronics Show, to announce their latest and greatest in tech. Everything from top tech, like the best TVs to laptops, computer monitors, at-home projectors and VR headsets, to household essentials like grills, washing machines and vacuums are showcased. It’s also a time when brands take the opportunity to preview buzzier products and new concepts, like stunning transparent TVs, crazy companion robots and so much more innovation.

Though not every gizmo and gadget announced at CES may end up on your shopping list, the product analysts and engineers at the Good Housekeeping Institute attend the show annually to help identify what will. We then rigorously test the most sought-after innovations in our Labs, identifying what's worth it and what's worth skipping (you can hold off on buying a flying car for now!). Below, you’ll find the most exciting products announced at CES 2024 that our pros can’t wait to get their hands on in the coming year, including several picks that feature AI integration to make them more efficient and easy to use.

Whether or not you actually need a transparent TV is yet to be decided, but our pros couldn’t help noticing how several major TV manufacturers announced the launch of see-through sets this year. Personally, I was absolutely blown away by this transparent OLED from LG that joins the brand’s already impressive lineup.

Both transparent and wireless, the futuristic TV features a 4K, 77-inch screen that’s guaranteed to make a statement in any living room. Owners can alternate between streaming their favorite movies or a virtually invisible screen that blends into the room’s décor. Thanks to a Zero Connect Box that enables it to be wireless, the TV can be placed anywhere in your space – that’s right, even up against a window or in the middle of the room – as it won’t block the view or reveal any ugly cables.

Secret Stylish Speaker

Samsung Music Frame

Samsung Music Frame

I'm an advocate for the Samsung Frame TV, so naturally, I was drawn to Samsung’s latest product addition: the Music Frame. Similar to the Frame TV, this new product disguises a wireless speaker in the form of a painting or picture you hang up on your wall as artwork. What makes it even more original is that the Music Frame will work alongside 2024 Samsung TVs and soundbars so you can easily create cinema-like surround sound in your living room without the addition of bulky standalone speakers or a complicated wired setup.

If you aren’t ready to upgrade to a new Samsung TV just yet, rest assured that the speaker is able to stream your favorite playlists over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Just keep in mind that the artwork featured inside the Music Frame isn’t digital so it won’t rotate through personal photos like a digital photo frame could, but you can manually swap out the image when you want a change.

Most Anticipated VR Headset

Apple did not have a physical presence at CES, but that didn’t stop the tech giant from announcing the release of its highly anticipated VR headset. It's available on February 2, 2024, so our team of tech experts haven’t yet been hands-on with the device, but the brand claims visionOS will “redefine how we connect, create and explore” through spatial computing. Users can expect the new interface to be controlled by their eyes, hands and voice, with access to more than one million apps as well as new experiences. Though the Vision Pro will be significantly pricier than other popular headsets like the Meta Quest, we're itching to review how this latest innovation from Apple compares.

If you love BBQ but just don’t have room in your backyard or can’t justify investing in a space-consuming smoker, GE’s latest appliance is here to save the day (and dinner). At this year’s CES, the brand announced the launch of a smart indoor smoker that you can use year-round from the comfort of your home.

Though there’s no denying that the appliance will take up some counter space (much like an air fryer or indoor pizza oven would), it’ll still squeeze into most average-sized kitchens so you can cook up favorite wood-smoked dishes like brisket, chicken wings, salmon and more. “It comes with multiple smoke levels, depending on how intense you like your smoke, and of course, you can track everything through the app,” notes GH Institute test engineer Alec Scherma.

GE’s smoker uses wood pellets similar to those you would use outdoors, but unlike other smokers, it features a filtration system so little (if any) smoke is emitted into your home. Best of all, most of the smoker’s components are dishwasher safe for easy clean up and an integrated thermometer is included so you'll know the second your baby back ribs are ready to eat.

Health Monitoring Must-Have

Withings never ceases to impress us with its growing portfolio of at-home, connected health tools, from smart bathroom scales to stylish smartwatches. This year the branch announced the release of a multiscope, or a “thermometer of the future” that can calculate more than your temperature. According to the brand, the sleek device is built with four sensors: ECG, oximeter, stethoscope and thermometer. Though FDA clearance is still pending, the device aims to make it easier to conduct routine heart and lung checkups from home alongside health professionals and will be an essential tool for telehealth visits.

Bioengineered Superplants

At the GH Institute, our pros test dozens of air purifiers throughout the year, but what if you could improve your home’s indoor air quality naturally? That’s what this French startup is trying to accomplish with bioengineered houseplants that claim to be up to 30 times more effective than an average houseplant at improving indoor air quality.

When seeing Neoplants myself, I was impressed by how beautiful they looked and loved that a pot and stand are included with purchase. Though our home experts don’t advise throwing out your air purifier just yet, we can’t wait to put the plants to the test in our Home Improvement & Outdoor Lab as soon as they’re available for purchase.

Smart Ring Newcomer

Evie Ring

We first heard about the Evie Ring from Movano Health at CES last year, but it’s officially coming to market in 2024 to earn a name for itself among other admired smart rings like the Oura Ring. Designed for women, the Evie ring tracks various health metrics such as sleep quality, heart rate, activity, temperature and much more. But what gives it an edge is the ring’s focus on women’s health; for instance, the Evie ring and companion app will track menstrual health insights like period and ovulation estimates to help you get a better idea of your fertile window and cycle phases.

When trying on the ring, I found it attractive and liked that its open design provided some flexibility (it's meant to account for natural changes to your finger’s size). Unlike other smart rings, it comes with a rechargeable case similar to AirPods that enables you to recharge the ring at least 10 times, according to the brand, so you don’t need to fuss with cables while traveling or on the go. Another selling point: it’s available in three finishes that should blend in with most jewelry, including rose gold, gold and silver, and that no subscription fee is required (or at least not yet).

Cutest Companion Robot

Perhaps the cutest robot I've ever seen, Samsung announced that Ballie (reminiscent of similarly adorable robot Wall-E), will be available for purchase later this year. Whether or not you're ready for this robot, which was first announced back in 2020, our tech pros don't think you’ll mind the company. Not only is it a smart home hub that interacts with other smart home devices, but it’s also an AI companion that can project onto screens anywhere in your home. Say you want your calendar pulled up while you’re eating breakfast, but your phone is still in the bedroom – just ask Ballie!

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could enter your home with facial recognition and ditch your keys altogether? You now can with the latest smart lock from Lockly. In previous Lab tests, our pros have been impressed with the brand’s performance, especially its integrated high-resolution cameras, and we’re eager to experiment with hands-free unlocking. Though you’ll still be able to open up your front door with an iPhone, Apple watch or the lock's digital keypad, the Visage could very well be a life-changer when carrying heavy groceries home.

Though it’s more common to see stackable washers and dryers in small spaces, washer-dryer combo units could start popping up more in 2024. Let's be honest, who enjoys transferring clothing into the dryer? At CES, our product analysts were especially impressed with LG’s latest Smart WashCombo, which utilizes inverter HeatPump Technology to save both time and energy. The brand claims that this unit uses up to 60% less energy than vented models, which could ultimately save you some money on your electricity bill.

Like other LG appliances, I found that the unit has a sleek, compact appearance and features intuitive, streamlined controls that even petite persons like myself can reach. Plus, it's integrated with AI technology to make laundry days easier than ever.

AI-Powered Grilling

We love an appliance that makes it easier and faster to whip up dinner. Enter SeerGrills, which made its debut this year and claims to sizzle a 1-inch ribeye in 90 seconds. This outdoor, AI-powered grill aims to cut down cooking time no matter what you’re making. It features an "aiChef" that takes the guesswork out of grilling so all you have to do is select your desired preferences in the app; no flipping or turning required.

According to Scherma, “this machine is capable of heating up to an incredible 1600ºF, which should allow you to cook various cuts of meat faster than ever before.” The brand also shared that the grill’s components are all dishwasher-safe, and because it heats to such a high temperature, any grease or particles that end up on the actual heating elements should be burned off (and hopefully eliminate the need to clean!).

Creative Keyboard Case

Love your iPhone, but miss having buttons? This phone case from Clicks combines the best of both worlds by enabling you to shoot off texts, draft emails and more via a physical keyboard on your iPhone 14 Pro, 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max. How? A keyboard is cleverly integrated into the phone case and, while I wasn't able to test it on my own Pro Max quite yet, it should work seamlessly once you pop it on. Not only does the Clicks case allow you to type, but it also frees up precious screen space and gives access to handy shortcuts typically unavailable on iPhones.

We’re already fans of HP’s pocket-sized ink-free printers that you can take with you wherever you go, but the brand just announced a bigger upgrade: a compact, portable photobooth you can keep at home for all occasions. It's expected to cost under $500 when released later this year, and like traditional beloved photobooths that draw crowds at social gatherings like weddings, graduations and birthdays, it’ll print out (or email) however many fun selfies you and your friends decide to take.

Accessible Gaming Controller

Sony’s accessible controller kit wasn't news at CES this year, but it shouldn’t go overlooked. Available for purchase as of December 2023, this gaming device was created for gamers with disabilities and can be configured to a user’s unique needs and mobility preferences. “Thanks to its 360-degree design, you can use it from the most comfortable position for you and each button is completely customizable," Scherma shares. Also notable: Everything from the packing to the controller is made with accessibility in mind.

It isn’t the first time we’re hearing about sleep tech at CES, but this smart mattress from Chinese company DeRUCCI caught our eye. According to the brand, 23 AI sensors built into the mattress make it possible to monitor health metrics like heart rate, body temperature, sleep position and more, while 18 airbags make “adjustments for optimal sleep.” Sadly, I didn’t get the opportunity to sleep on the mattress myself during the show (though I could have used a quick power nap), but our GH Institute bedding experts can’t wait to learn more ahead of its launch later in 2024.

EssilorLuxottica has a reputation for creating fashionable eyewear and its portfolio includes tech-forward innovations like the Ray-Ban Meta. This year at CES, the brand took a step into the hearing loss category by showcasing its latest prototype, the Nuance Audio glasses. Though these frames may look like ordinary prescription glasses, they house advanced hearing technology that's designed to replace traditional hearing aids for those with mild to moderate hearing loss. I was able to touch and feel the lightweight, stylish glasses on the show floor and, at first glance, would have never guessed that they feature open-eye hearing technology.
