Melissa Baker

Hi! I’m Melissa, and I’d like to tell you a little about myself.

I’ve been passionate about art my whole life. I earned a BFA in sculpture at the University of Georgia in 1999, and after college I completed a tattoo apprenticeship. I was taught traditional style tattooing, and I learned to value strong lines, solid color and lots of black.

I worked with Mike Malone at Taylor Street tattoo in Chicago from 2003 -2006 and he was hugely influential. Fast forward 20 years, and while I still love doing traditional tattoos, my style has diversified quite a lot. Thanks to the trust of so many wonderful clients, I now do primarily custom botanical and ornamental types of tattoos.

I really value versatility, and I love the challenge of coming up with new fresh approaches to tattooing.

I moved to Portland Oregon in 2019, and most recently, I am now an artist and co-owner of Zigzag Tattoo. We are located in the historic Hollywood District at 4039 NE Sandy Blvd. Check us out at Zigzagtattoo.com
