Ronan Keating has revealed that he once accidentally headbutted the Pope.

The Irish singer, known for being in boyband Boyzone, named the incident as one of the most embarrassing of his life in a discussion with The Guardian.

"When greeting Pope Benedict a few years ago, I was meant to kiss the papal ring but I headbutted his hand instead," he said. "He just laughed at me."

He added that he has few regrets in life. When asked if he would change anything from his past, he said: "Not a thing. It's our mistakes that make us who we are."

Keating, who is currently starring in West End musical Once, revealed that he would like James Corden to play him in a film of his life, adding: "He's funny, and my son will think I'm cool."

The singer recently revealed that he is paying tribute to his former bandmate Stephen Gately by wearing red socks on stage every night to reflect Gately's favourite colour.
