Disney has announced that Zach Galifianakis will star in the live-action remake of the 2002 animated hit Lilo & Stitch. While his particular role has not been announced officially, according to The Wrap, The Hangover actor will reportedly play Pleakley (originally voiced by Kevin McDonald), the agent charged with capturing Experiment 626. This film marks Galifianakis’s return to Disney since the release of 2018’s Wrinkle in Time. While Stitch will be CGI, Disney has not shared who is set to portray Lilo or her sister Nani. Dean Fleischer Camp, who directed 2022’s Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, will direct the film with Chris Kekaniokalani Bright writing the script.

The original Lilo & Stitch, which was released in 2002, followed a highly dangerous extraterrestrial named Experiment 626, who escaped his prison and crashlanded in Hawaii. Lilo (voiced by Daveign Chase in the original movie) found him and adopted him as the family pet. As “Stitch” escaped capture by aliens Pleakley and Jumba with the help of Lilo and her family, he would come to learn the true meaning of “ohana” or family.
