Training Seminar on Fight Against Fraud and Irregularities with regard to EU Funds for AFCOS Network in Türkiye

Within the context of on-going negotiations under Chapter 32- Financial Control, “TAIEX Training Seminar on Fight Against Fraud and Irregularities With Regard to EU Funds for AFCOS Network in Türkiye” was held on 29-30 May 2012 by Ministry for EU Affairs in co-operation with Prime Ministry Inspection Board (PMIB), European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) under the auspices of Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış.

In his opening speech, Mr. Bağış stated that the misuse of funds regardless of its origin – either from EU or national budget – shall not be tolerated under any circumstances with a “zero tolerance” approach. Mr. Bağış also underlined the importance of cooperation both between relevant national authorities at national level and with EU Commission, namely OLAF at international level.

During the seminar, several comprehensive presentations were made with regard to related EU and national legislation on protection of EU's financial interests, legal and administrative framework concerning EU Funds in Türkiye, PMIB’s and OLAF’s investigative procedures and challenges in cooperation in this field.
