When they get older, they will look like really tall mice with funny ears.
For now, the two agouti who celebrated their one-month birthday Wednesday are still pretty small. They are on display in the Kingdoms of the Night at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium with their parents, Rosie and Jack.
Agouti, members of the rodent family, are native to Central and South America, and have been introduced in the West Indies. Adults can weigh up to 13 pounds and be nearly 24 inches in length.
They are extremely fast and are good swimmers. Agouti have such good hearing, they can tell when fruits falling from trees hit the rain forest floor.
