If getting a puppy is the first choice of pet our children relentlessly request, then getting a cat is a close second! Thankfully, relatives have cats that have fed this pet request. These crazy cats have offered our family a lot of fun and love, which we are thankful for. Undoubtedly, it has created love in our family’s hearts for these beloved creatures.

10 Fun Facts About Kittens

  1. Kittens rely on their mothers for warmth, nourishment, and protection when they are born because they are born blind and deaf!
  2. Within a few hours after birth, Kittens can start walking. They often stumble and fall in the process because they are not fully coordinated. 
  3. Kitten teeth and claws are very sharp! They use them for climbing, hunting, and playing, but these claws and teeth will be replaced with adult teeth and claws as they grow up. 
  4. Kittens need to eat every two to three hours in the first few weeks of life because of their rapid metabolism.
  5. Exploring and playing are natural cat behaviors. Playing is part of their nature, so providing them lots of toys and stimulation helps keep your kitten happy and healthy. 
  6. Kittens can experience health problems like any other creature. It is not always smooth sailing! Respiratory infections, worms, and fleas are common health problems that may require veterinarian consultation. 
  7. If you begin training a kitten early, they can learn to use a litter box as early as four weeks old! 
  8. Cats have more bones than humans! Cats have a whopping 230 bones in their body. Humans? 206. 
  9. Kittens are social creatures! They like to play and interact, so keeping them in pairs or groups is positive for their health. 
  10. Cats can taste scents in the air thanks to an extra organ they have.

Cat Coats and Cat Patterns for Coloring

Cat coats are diverse and come in many different colors and patterns! If you or your little artist want to take into consideration some real life cat colors and patterns we did some research into the different colors and coat patterns you’ll commonly find. Which one will you coloring sheet be? 

Most often cats are white, red, blue, black, cream, cinnamon, fawn, and brown. It depends on their breed and genetics. 

Typical cat coats also have a range of patterns including Tabby, Solid, Tortoise, Colorpoint, and Bicolor

Tabby – tabby patterns are often striped resembling a tiger. Usually, tabby cats are brown, grey, and orange

Tortoiseshell cats have a coat mixture of black and orange combined to create this beautiful cat coat. 

Colorpoint cats have darker colors on their feet, faces, or tails. Generally, their coat colors are fawn or light brown. Siamese cats are an example of this coat pattern.

Bicolor coats have patches of white and one other solid color. 

The Tricolour of Calico coats are black, red, and white.

Solid coats are as it sounds; solid color, no markings. Most often cats with a solid coat are grey, black, or white.
