50 years of being a cactus 50 years of being an icon The world-famous clothes stand by the Italian manufacturer Gufram has been subjected to various interpretations since it was first made in 1972. Whether as a kitsch object or an icon of Italian design, the 'Cactus' always has been an eye-catcher thanks to its gaudy color, shape and size. In interior decoration, the cactus becomes a totem or a sculpture, but its function often takes a back seat. As an important object of Italian Radical Design, the 'Cactus' not only questions the functionality of an object, but also crosses the boundary between indoor and outdoor use. In order for the design object to remain similar to its strong and durable natural model - cacti can live up to 200 years - the polyurethane foam shape was reinforced with a metal framework. In 2022, the prickly yet soft cactus celebrates its 50th anniversary, and to mark the occasion we are pleased to offer an early version of the 1970s clothes rack. Numerous limited editions have been created over the decades, whereby the originally green cactus has been executed in red, white, black or multicolored. The shade of green has also been varied, with the first editions from the early 1970s being a deeper emerald green.

323 Guido Drocco; Franco Mello 'Cactus' clothes stand, 1972 H. 165 cm. Made by Gufram, Balangero, c. 1972. Polyurethane foam painted with green Guflac. Gramigna, Repertorio 1950-1980, Milan 2001, p. 370. € 4.000 - 5.000

Lorenzo Martone, an entrepreneur in the fashion and beauty industry and former partner of designer Marc Jacobs, founded the bicycle line Martone Cycling Co. in 2013. The city bikes are mostly designed in monochrome and even the tires match the color of the frame. The most important feature is the red chain that adorns each bicycle. The details of the equipment are also well thought out. Since we always carry a bag or groceries with us, especially on the way across the city, all bikes, with a low mount, are equipped with a basket. Martone's goal is to design bikes that make a fashion statement and it-piece, but are also very comfortable to ride.

581 Andrés Reisinger, Júlia Esqué Armchair 'Hortensia', 2018/19 H. 83 x 116 x 84 cm. Made by Studio Andrés Reisinger, Barcelona. Wooden construction, rose colored polyester sheets. Label: manufacturer's badge Studio Reisinger Barcelona. From the pre-series, which was produced in a small factory in Barcelona. With protective cover. In 2018, the 'Hortensia' armchair was created by Argentinian artist Andrés Reisinger as a 3D model. The image of the seating object received such a huge buzz on social media that Reisinger even received several orders for the armchair, which had previously only existed in the digital world. These inspired the author to actually have the design physically produced. The first attempts to produce the elaborate armchair were rejected with "impossible to produce" by several manufacturing companies. The artist was successful only in his collaboration with the well-known textile artist Júlia Esqué and later with a small manufactory in Barcelona. There, under the constant supervision of the artist duo, a first pre-series was created. A construction of plywood was upholstered to be decorated with thousands of petals and take the shape of a delicate flower head. Esqué and Reisinger's idea was to create a surface that, just like the hydrangea blossoms, would respond to every breeze with gently fluttering leaves. This effect was achieved with the help of 30,000 rose-colored leaves, which were adjusted in size. The first presentations of the chair, which now exists in the material world, were extraordinarily successful, so the Dutch manufacturer Moooi decided to mass produce it. Made only on demand, 'Hydrangea' is now produced from a supporting metal structure with petals in rosé but also gray and blooms in many interiors around the world. Take a seat! € 12.000 - 15.000
