What colors should I use for a giraffe coloring page?
When coloring a giraffe, ensure you use tan or light brown for the base color. The patches can be a mix of orange-brown, dark brown or even black depending on the giraffe’s species. The underbelly and inside of the legs are often whiter or lighter than the rest of the body. The giraffe’s ossicones (the horn-like structures on their head) can be covered with dark brown or black.
How can I add more detail and realism to my giraffe coloring?
Starting with the light base color, gradually build up the darker spots. To give the illusion of a three-dimensional form, try adding shading under the neck, belly, and inside the legs. Highlight the spinal ridge along the back and the muscular legs of the giraffe. Texture the giraffe’s skin patches to make them look more like fur by adding lines and dots.

Yes, the pattern of a giraffe’s spots is unique to each individual, much like a human fingerprint, so don’t worry about being precise with the spots. They’re also known for their long tongues which can be as long as 45cm and are a dark blue or purplish color to prevent sunburn.
