His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa

Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

In January 2008, His Royal Highness was appointed as Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, in charge of overseeing the overall implementation of public policy as well as military, administrative, economic and financial plans of the Bahrain Defense Force and the National Guard.

Under his chairmanship, the Economic Development Board (EDB) launched Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, a comprehensive strategy for the Kingdom’s economic development which aims to enhance the standard of living of citizens.

He led the significant progress in the ICT sector that included the liberalization of the telecommunications sector, development of a competitive environment, adoption of supporting policies that foster the implementation of the most advanced technologies, as well as providing integrated services.

He also conducted reforms in the labor market through the development of a national plan that includes a strategy and policy, as well as collecting and analysis data, information and statistics related to the economic situation in the Kingdom.

He was First Deputy Prime Minister in 2013, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Center for Studies and Research, and chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.

He holds a Bachelor Degree in Public Administration from the American University in Washington DC, and a Master Degree in Philosophy and History from the University of Cambridge, UK.
