The PXIe-7966R, a PXIe module by National Instruments (Product Code: 781805-01), is engineered for peer-to-peer (P2P) streaming and is furnished with an embedded SX95T FPGA (Virtex-5). This advanced NI P2P feature exploits the PXIe to facilitate direct, uninterrupted transfer between multiple instruments, mitigating unnecessary load on the host memory or CPU. The adaptable FPGA of the NI PXIe-7966R is equipped with 58,880 Logic Cells (Flip-Flops), 640 DSP48 Slices, and a sizeable 8,784 kbits of integral BRAM (block RAM). The module is compatible with a PXIe 100 MHz reference timebase source and has a standard internal timebase of 40 MHz. With the PXIe-7966R, users can choose from DMA, programmed, or interrupts mode for data transfer. It boasts of 2 DRAM banks, each with a substantial 256 MB memory, promising a peak theoretical bandwidth of 1.6 gigabytes per bank. This versatile module is engineered to function within all types of PXIe slots. Though National Instruments has declared a Mature Status for the PXIe-7966R, the module will stay available for acquisitions and maintenance services.
