Tillandsia straminea is one of the few air plants that produce strongly scented flowers when in bloom. It’s scent smells slightly like a carnation. Their blooms are white and purple with light purple flower bracts. Native to Peru and Ecuador, Straminea’s can grow to be quite large. They have velvet like soft silvery green leaves. It is a xeric plant which means it can thrive in areas of low humidity and drier overall conditions and can take more sun than the majority of airplants. Water with a good misting or dunking rather than a soaking.
