1. The Pointed Arch


The pointed arch is most famously seen in Gothic Architecture but it can also be seen in Islamic Architecture as well! It is usually narrow, pointed, slanted,or curved with a mixture of the four. The arch was used in order to support the framework and pressure of the structure. The innovation of the pointed arch allowed for the spaces more elevated and more intimately spaced. This also produced a decrease of thrust to the base.
